Social Impact — Aditya Herekar | ENGin Ukraine, NJ Veterans Memorial Home, Financial Literacy Advocacy

SOCIAL IMPACT

I've had more opportunities than most people ever get: good schools, generous mentors, and a community that gave me opportunities to grow. The least I can do is pass some of that on. For me, that has meant standing with Ukrainians: tutoring students through a war, and teaching families the money skills to rebuild on their own terms. It has also meant time with our veterans. I spend afternoons at the NJ Veterans Memorial Home listening to people who gave far more than I ever will.

Weekly conversational English with Ukrainian students for two years, building cross-cultural communication and giving consistent support during wartime. This is where my activism for Ukraine started, and what Invest2Empower's Ukraine work grew out of. What those families needed alongside English was money knowledge.

I led a three-person team supporting a Nigerian entrepreneur, building the financial strategy for a Nigerian restaurant business. My team also designed the marketing strategy and branding materials. We created a business plan, pitched it to the Grant Committee and received approval for funding. We also raised $1,300+ which was used by the entrepreneur to setup his business.
